Brew Day

Way back in October 2013 time frame I was planning on brewing another Pumpkin Pale Ale, this time with molasses for some extra colonial flavor. But then my dad became ill and I never had a chance to actually make it.

Today I made that beer, without the pumpkin, with my dad in mind.

Since this is a “Colonial” style ale, it’s made with British Maris Otter malt, American molasses and American Cluster hops with a British yeast and finished with my 2013 crop of Williamettes hops.

Homegrown Hops

I placed all the hops I had, which were still fragrant after all these months, in a hop bag. I didn’t weigh them beforehand but since this was at finishing, it doesn’t matter as much.
