Can Lytro succeed in the prosumer market?

You might have heard about the Lytro, a so-called Light Field Photography (PDF link) camera that offers the ability to refocus a photo after it has been taken.

Although the Lytro was unique, it has not been a commercial success. Now they’re introducing a more upmarket camera intended to compete in the prosumer space. But will it be successful? Christopher Nahr takes a look at the technology and explains how it is disadvantaged compared to conventional photography and how it probably won’t replace your dSLR.
