The Stasi museum in Berlin

The Stasi were the East German secret police and they were well-known for their love of covert surveillance and eavesdropping. When the Berlin Wall fell, their headquarters were attacked by angry mobs and some of their equipment was destroyed (some of it by the Stasi themselves). Luckily, not all of it was and there is a fascinating collection of photo and audio gear on display in the building.
