Enhance!

Researchers at the Weismann Institute have come up with a new image enhancement algorithm, Super Resolution From a Single Image, that comes very close to the fictional image enhancement scenes from TV shows like NCIS. The page allows you to compare the various methods on a set of representational images (give it time to load).

This is still research, of course, and image editing programs like Photoshop and GIMP won’t have them for a while, if ever.
