Last year, Matthew Inman, creator of comic The Oatmeal, took website FunnyJunk to task for reposting his comics without attribution. FunnyJunk eventually took them down but recently a lawyer claiming to represent them demanded $20,000 in damages. Rather than send him the money, Inman started a online donation to instead collect and split the money between the American Cancer Society and the National Wildlife Federation. Oh, and to take a picture of the money and send it along with a comic of the lawyer’s mother attempting to have sex with a Kodiak bear.
Inman raised the $20K in just over an hour and so far has reached close to $100,000.
