Preservation Board to make Cataract a landmark

The city’s Preservation Board has started the process to make the Cataract building a designated landmark, which would halt Genesee’s plans to demolish it.

This is the right thing to do, in my mind. There’s no reason why Genesee can’t repurpose the building and still keep their plans for a visitor center in place. Rochester has had an appalling tendency to tear down historic structures, it’s always encouraging to see us doing something better.
