The man behind the bikes of Easy Rider

If you’ve seen the movie Easy Rider you can’t forget the two custom motorcycles ridden by Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda (both stolen at the end of filming). What you might not know is who designed both bikes, Cliff Vaughs. Vaughs, now 74, was a custom motorcycle builder in the Watts section of Los Angeles who was also a civil rights activist and documentary film maker.

Once again, The Vintagent has done a remarkable job of unearthing a piece of motorcycling history.
