We all know the octopus is one of the most amazing sea creatures, far more intelligent than any other invertebrate but did you know they can adapt to environmental changes without changing their DNA? Scientists discovered that an Antarctic and tropical octopus have almost identical genes for nerve proteins but the Antarctic octopus uses RNA editing differently to create a protein that allows its nerves to operate in the extreme cold.
