1st Amendment allows posting SSNs of state officials

A Federal judge has ruled that the 1st Amendment protects the rights a Virginia woman to post the SSNs of state officials on her website. The woman, a privacy activist, is protesting her state government’s posting of real estate records that include the people’s Social Security numbers. At present, they have given clerks three years to redact the SSNs but lack the funding to make the changes. She hopes to accelerate the removal now that state officials are learning what effect their inertia has on residents.
