More on comment spam

As won­der­ful as Akismet is for catch­ing com­ment spam, it’s even bet­ter to com­bine it with other tools.

When my blocked com­ment spams hit 40,000. I qui­etly added Bad Behav­ior and Com­ment Time­out to my toolset. It totally trans­formed things for me. It’s sad that you have to run so much soft­ware to get rid of spam com­ments, but that’s the way of the weblog world. I had con­sid­ered turn­ing com­ments off com­pletely, par­tic­u­larly since I don’t get very many, but I didn’t really want to do that. Now I don’t have to.
