The term Fair Use refers to things like mak­ing backup copies for your own safety or copy­ing the con­tent of a pur­chased DVD onto an enter­tain­ment sys­tem so you can view it any­where in your house. The DMCA for­bids Fair Use and makes poten­tially ille­gal any attempt on your part to have Fair Use. Just another rea­son why the DMCA is such a bad law that flies in the face of cen­turies of legal precedents.
