Lawyerly logic at its best

The lawyer for a Mon­roe County Sheriff’s deputy on trial for manslaugh­ter for killing some­one while dri­ving drunk, is claim­ing that alco­hol was not a fac­tor and there was noth­ing that could have been done to pre­vent the crash (ital­ics mine). It’s a good thing this isn’t a jury trial, their laugh­ter would have drowned out the rest of his remarks.
