Dubious milestone reached

Thanks to a recent surge, I’ve finally passed the 10,000 spam com­ment mark. That’s just since the sec­ond week of Novem­ber when this weblog went live on Word­Press. Com­pare that to the 180 or so legit­i­mate com­ments I’ve received since 2000 and you get an idea of how bad com­ment spam has become. I’d seri­ously con­sider turn­ing off the com­ments if it were not for Akismet.
