Ma Bell is back. Should you be afraid? Tim Wu at Slate Mag­a­zine says “A lit­tle.” That’s because the tele­com mar­ket is not what it was back when the orig­i­nal AT&T existed but no one can really be sure what power the new AT&T might see fit to wield. Even the “Baby Bells” were ruth­less in their han­dling of local com­pe­ti­tion, it’s not improb­a­ble some of that atti­tude will remain. Time will tell but the if the hand­ing over of infor­ma­tion to the NSA is any indi­ca­tion, per­haps a lit­tle should be “A lot.”
