Park’s killer whale almost lives up to name

At Sea World in San Diego, a trainer was pulled down to the bottom of a tank by a killer whale in front of a large crowd. Luckily, he was able to convince the whale to let him go and he wasn’t seriously injured.

This is why I get a funny feeling seeing the Marineland commercials where the killer whale kisses the little girl. These are large, powerful, intelligent predators yet somehow we think that because they’re in water they represent less of threat than lions or tigers.

  1. Did you happen to see the news video on cnn.com regarding this? They interviewed a bunch of “moms” who were/seem appalled by the killer whale acting, well, like a killer whale.

  2. I’ve always wondered what goes on in the whale’s mind when it’s doing those tricks. At some point they must realize how easy it would be to just take a bite…
