Gingrich says we need to give up freedom of speech

For­mer House Speaker Newt Gin­grich told atten­dees at an event hon­or­ing those who stand up for free­dom of speech that our free­dom of speech needs to be re-defined in order to fight ter­ror­ism. Exactly. Let’s ignore 230 years of free­dom and go back to the monar­chy the Found­ing Fathers risked their lives to escape.

What is it with “con­ser­v­a­tives” any­way? I seemed to have missed the part where they turned into fas­cists bent on total­i­tar­i­an­ism. What we need instead are lead­ers who under­stand and sup­port the prin­ci­ples this coun­try was founded upon instead of pun­ish­ing us for what oth­ers do.
