In honor of Memo­r­ial Day, these pho­tos from Tin­ian island in WW II remind us of the price some have paid for the world we live in today.

In case you don’t know, Tin­ian was the home air­field of the B-29 bombers that dropped the first atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
