The South Avenue parking garage is being rebuilt. I’m surprised they keep it open considering the work they’re doing. The concrete is falling apart in many places, probably due to road salt, and the circular ramps on the Broad Street side are being reinforced.

I have an love/hate thing with Boing Boing, but they do occasionally get my attention. For instance, Cory Doctorow posted a warning about a program called StarForce that some game manufacturers secretly install as part of their games. It can destabilize your PC by interfering with processes it decides could be used to illegally copy the games. Now StarForce is threatening to sue Doctorow for criticizing the product.

I’m so old I remember when anti-copying measures were on the disks and didn’t install themselves silently into your system.

A local man thinks a hovercraft could succeed where the ferry failed. It’s smaller, faster and might be cheaper. The biggest obstacle he’ll face here is overcoming the cynicism we’ve developed watching the ferry fail twice.
