A major under­ground tun­nel fire in Man­ches­ter, Eng­land took out 130,000 phones and dis­abled the ambu­lance ser­vice radios. It’s also inter­est­ing that the police are advis­ing that the 999 sys­tem (their equiv­a­lent of our 911) is still reach­able via mobile phone.
