Null­soft, the WinAmp folks, have a new dis­trib­uted com­mu­ni­ca­tions pro­to­col, WASTE that they’ve released as Open Source (GPL). The client is Windows-only.

One unique fea­ture is the built-in secu­rity via RSA and Blow­fish. They claim it’s for work­groups and small com­pa­nies to use but I can imag­ine it may have other uses, as well (like small groups of file traders who don’t wish to reveal what they’re sharing).
