Folks in West­ern NY are used to going back and forth over the Cana­dian bor­der with lit­tle has­sle. But under a pol­icy being con­sid­ered by the fed­eral gov­ern­ment, tak­ing a quick trip to Canada may soon require U.S. pass­port. I won­der how this will work with the new Rochester-to-Toronto fast ferry ser­vice. It’s cer­tainly an odd time to be build­ing such a cross-border service.

If you live in the US, it’s likely that most of the radio sta­tions in your area are owned by a very small num­ber of com­pa­nies (maybe as few as two). Sen. Russ Fein­gold (D-Wisc.) is intro­duc­ing a bill that will limit the num­ber of sta­tions a com­pany can own in any one market.
