Be careful when using the “Reply to All” button. A local company, Eastman Kodak, fired an employee when he complained about an e-mail in a message that went to about 1000 other employees. The company claims that when offered the chance to acknowledge that sending such a message to that many people was wrong, he declined and was terminated.

Computerworld’s 16th Annual Salary Survey is out. It seems most of the bonuses are gone, but salaries are okay and raises averaged 6%. What makes the most difference: how well your company is doing. I can relate.

Sad news on the open source front. Someone robbed the PayPal account of the AbiWord word processor. I use PayPal for a lot of shareware and online auction payments and the fact that this was so easily done is troubling to the Nth degree.
