There’s a new ver­sion (6.0) of the Opera browser out, for Win32 at least. It’s sport­ing an updated inter­face which allows for mul­ti­ple win­dows in addi­tion to the old MDI inter­face, if you like that. I’ve noticed some slow downs for no good rea­son, and some lay­out strange­ness, but over­all it’s still pretty good. If you’re look­ing for a faster, fairly standards-compliant alter­na­tive to Netscape 4.x or IE, it’s worth a look. I’ve only used it on Win­dows, but Mac and Linux ver­sions are also avail­able (not sure what ver­sion lev­els are avail­able on those platforms).

But at the same time Mozilla is still doing well, though there’s been some minor set­backs lately. They’ve added a tabbed inter­face option that works fairly well and some recent improve­ments to per­for­mance (long over­due). At work, I use all three, depend­ing on the situation.
